    Direct Answer

It depends on your contract. Whoever contracts for the work picks the company, usually the builder or general contractor. If you're building a custom home or acting as owner-builder, you can name the licensed pre-treatment company you want in your building contract. Ask before the contract is signed; once the slab is poured, the pre-treatment window has passed.

Why the choice matters for years

The pretreatment has to happen before the slab under roof is poured (R3-8-308(D)).

The company that does the pretreatment is the one that owes the final grade treatment (R3-8-308(F)(1)) and the 3-year retreatment (R3-8-309(C)).

    If the builder chooses

Ask for the company's name, the scope and copies of the site tag, final grade record and eTARF. Use our pre-treatment checklist.

AZDA's Pest Management Division can tell a homeowner the name, phone and application date of the firm that pre-treated a home: (602) 542-4373.
